The food was great, but the service was not. Our server took an extraordinarily long time putting our orders in to the handheld device. Then, because the drinks we ordered a new drinks, when he brought them over to the table, he couldn't remember which drink was which. And he attempted to rectify that situation by getting a straw to taste the drinks. With my friends, saw him walking back to our table with his straw in his hand she said no is there another way you can figure out whose drink is who, maybe by double checking with the bartender, which is which. And also after a meal was over, he started clearing plates at the exact same time as we were putting food into take away containers. And he cleared the plates by piling them up in front of us on our table. This process took an extraordinarily long time, it was very loud, it was very intrusive and it was very disruptive. There was no reason for him to pile the plates on top of each other while we were still sitting there. Not to mention that the restaurant was extremely empty and he could've put them on the table beside us. But he spent several seconds organizing and re-organizing the larger plates on the bottom and the smaller plates on top so he could more easily carry them all to the kitchen in one trip. And he did all of this while we were sitting there. He had a very very nice personality and was professional in every other aspect. This was also annoying because the payment process in and of itself, with the use of the handheld devices, is already intrusive and disruptive. So to extend the period of time that he was at our table doing something that was so loud and time consuming put a damper on the dinner that I was having with my best friend.

After riding the water taxi to view cherry blossoms from Old Town Alexandria, we docked in DC at the Wharf. Meandering up and down the boardwalk, we paused at Kinfolk for a late lunch. We enjoyed the view of the water and all the passersby while nibbling on tangy tomato soup and a hearty grilled cheese sandwich, hush puppies, and Caesar salad with unique "croutons" (cubes of mozzarella cheese lightly dusted in seasoned flour and quickly fried) Service was friendly and quick. Chairs were comfortable. Highly recommend.

Went down to the wharf and needed a bit to eat. Looked at the options and settled on Kinfolk. What an amazing decision. My wife and I sat at the bar while we waited on some friends. We started with appetizers. The server recommended the smoked wings and my wife got the cornbread. The wings were DELICIOUS!!! Dry rub was great. They were well seasoned and the chicken fell off the bone. The cornbread was a good size and hot. For entrees I ordered the steak frites and my wife ordered the crab cake sandwich with rice. The steak was JUICY, SEASONED, and TENDER. The steak was also cooked at the right temperature and was gone in a matter of minutes. The French fries were also seasoned well and delicious. My food was gone in less than 10 minutes. The crab cake sandwich was large and my wife could barely finish. Service was excellent. The drinks were delicious and juicy. It was so good my wife ordered two. Overall this was a great experience and I'll definitely be back. Thanks again

Yet another windy/rainy date night found us searching for something new. We found ourselves at the Wharf. This area has undergone so many changes since our childhood that we didn't know what restaurant to pick. I've heard mixed reviews about Kinfolk, but ultimately, we ended up picking the first choice to get us out of the rain. I'm glad we did. Upon entrance you could smell wood burning, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. I ordered the crab dip, charred broccoli, Cajun rice, with tandoori chicken. All were flavorful although I found the Cajun rice dry. The star was the crab dip! I even got some to go with extra sourdough. My mister got the crab cake sandwich and said he enjoyed it and would get it again. (High praise for him.)

Parking isn't too bad: Garage, street, valet. You'll eventually find it, but it'll cost you. But, it's worth it. The service was wonderful: No rushing, light banter and laughs, and accommodating when the server recommended we move to a different table for a more comfortable seating, and they were right! All the food came out timely and tasty, especially the Smoked Trout Dip (which I took home to snack on later). Filling food. Plentiful portions. Great service. Will definitely recommend.
